By Hariprasad V M
I am a research scholar at the Centre for Technology Alternatives for Rural Areas (CTARA), IIT Bombay. My research delves into pressing social and environmental challenges, with a focus on sanitation and marginalized communities. Through my study, "Informality, Marginality and Agency: A Study of Sanitation Work and Workers in Alleppey Town, India," I explore the everyday realities of sanitation workers, marked by precarious employment and nuances in sanitation governance in small towns.
I hold degrees in Electrical Engineering (CUSAT, Kochi) and Environmental Studies and Resource Management (TERI University, New Delhi). My professional trajectory has included academic appointments as teaching and research fellow at Ashoka University, Haryana, and Azim Premji University, Bangalore. Post this, I worked with SEEDS India in their post-flood recovery initiatives in Kerala's Wayanad district.
